How to Use a Vamp Stretcher and Toe Box Stretcher

If you’ve tried stretching the width and length of your shoes but find the fit to still be too tight, then you might be using the wrong device.

That’s where FootFitter’s Vamp & Instep Stretcher and Professional Shoe Toe Raiser come in. They are specialty stretchers that target specific areas of your shoe, mainly the vamp (the top part of your footwear behind the toe box) and the toe box (the front-most portion of your footwear where your toes are located).

FootFitter Vamp & Instep Stretcher

Let’s go into more detail about the FootFitter Vamp & Instep Stretcher. If you’re finding that it’s more difficult for you to slide your foot into your footwear or you are developing blisters on top of your foot, then it probably means that there probably isn’t enough space.

Certain ailments and injuries, such as an ankle sprain, a cyst, or tendonitis, can contribute to the top of your feet becoming swollen, thus making it a tight fit in your shoes.

Using the Vamp & Instep Stretcher on your footwear will gently raise that part of your shoes and alleviate the pressure on top of your foot.

This stretcher can be used on flat-soled shoes made from leather, suede, nubuck and canvas. We also offer the Boot Vamp & Instep Stretcher for flat-soled boots.

NOTE: The Boot Vamp & Instep Stretcher does not work on Western boots.

How to Use the FootFitter Vamp & Instep Stretcher and FootFitter Boot Vamp & Instep Stretcher

  1. Prepare the shoe by spraying the inside and outside with FootFitter Shoe and Boot Stretch Spray. Focus the spray on the areas you will be stretching.
  2. Insert the vamp stretcher into the shoe. Ensure that the toe block is fully inserted into the footwear.
  3. Turn the handle clockwise until it is snug. Expand the stretcher to your preferred fit. NOTE: Do not expand the stretcher as far as it can go. Once you stretch the fabric, it cannot be undone.
  4. Leave the stretcher in the shoe for 6-8 hours.
  5. Remove the stretcher by turning the handle counter-clockwise. Check the fit of the shoe if additional stretching is needed.

FootFitter Professional Shoe Toe Raiser

Now let’s talk about the FootFitter Professional Shoe Toe Raiser. It’s a great tool to use when you need to make more room in the toe box of your shoes.

You should consider stretching the toe box of your shoes if you have claw/hammer/mallet toes, corns or calluses, among other conditions.

The Professional Shoe Toe Raise does what it says — it gently stretches the toe box in a vertical manner to make more room for your toes.

For best results, use this stretcher on flat-soled, low-collar footwear.
